My path to engineering ran through a chemistry PhD at Columbia and a career as a professional ballet dancer. That's not a quirky footnote — it's the explanation for how I work.
Both fields demand the same things: precision under pressure, the ability to hold a complex system in your head while executing at the detail level, and an intolerance for approximation when accuracy is what the problem requires.
At Etsy I spent four years in monetization and payments — shipping an ads credit system that eliminated an entire category of support tickets, building campaign features that increased ad adoption by 32%, and leading a risk mitigation project that captured $700k in revenue. I was promoted twice in three years and mentored over a dozen engineers along the way.
At Gotham I was the first technical lead as VP of Engineering. I built the team, the infrastructure, and the processes from nothing — including a backup POS system after I identified a critical single point of failure that could have taken down sales during a high-volume event. I also designed and built the PoC for a data management system using GCP Cloud Functions and BigQuery to consolidate sales and inventory data from third-party integrations, which the team carried into production. CI/CD pipelines I established reduced delivery timelines by 50% and defect rates by 40%.
I'm currently building First On Screen, an independent research project and application for tracking media representation using self-identification-only data. It's built on a stack of third-party APIs — including Anthropic's — with human-in-the-loop verification and explicit constraints against automated production writes, because I think the question of who gets to define identity in AI systems deserves rigorous engineering, not shortcuts.
I bring senior IC execution depth and executive leadership experience. I can set technical direction, build the team to execute it, and write the code myself.
Track 01
Fractional Technology
Leadership
For early-stage and scaling companies that need executive engineering leadership without a full-time commitment. I've built an engineering organization from zero and I know what it costs to get those decisions wrong early.
- Engineering org design and team building
- Technical strategy and architecture review
- Payments, monetization, and commerce systems
- CI/CD and delivery process maturity
- Startup infrastructure scaling
Track 02
Senior
Engineering
For teams that need a senior IC who can own complex, high-stakes systems independently and elevate the engineers around them.
- Backend systems in PHP, Python and TypeScript
- Payments and monetization platforms
- ML systems, data pipelines, and AI-safety-aware design
- Full-stack product engineering
First On Screen
2025 – Present
Independent Research Engineer
- Designed an end-to-end ethical ML system for media representation tracking using self-identification-only data
- Built AI-assisted data pipeline integrating TMDB, Wikipedia, and web search with confidence scoring and source attribution
- Architected human-in-the-loop verification workflows — AI suggests, humans verify; no automated writes to production
- Implemented Celery + Redis background job processing for batch ingestion with retry safety
Gotham
2024 – 2025
VP of Engineering + Technology (Founding Engineer)
- Built the engineering organization from zero — hiring, architecture, process, and tooling
- Identified and eliminated a critical single point of failure by building an independent backup POS system, preserving full sales capability during high-volume outages
- SEO technical implementation drove 536% year-over-year organic traffic growth
- CI/CD pipelines reduced delivery timelines by 50% and defect rates by 40% across a team of 5 engineers
Etsy
2020 – 2024
Senior Software Engineer
- Built campaign management features that increased ad adoption by 32% and drove platform revenue growth
- Led a risk mitigation project within the payments platform that captured $700k in revenue
- Launched an Etsy Ads credit system that eliminated seasonal support tickets and improved seller trust
- Promoted twice in three years; mentored 11+ engineers; co-chaired Black ERG (BridgE)
Columbia University
2011 – 2019
Doctoral Researcher
- NDSEG Predoctoral Fellowship (U.S. Department of Defense, 2013) and Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship (2016)
- NIH and NSF grant support; presented findings at international conferences
- Co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on translational fidelity mechanisms

First On Screen
Representation Tracker
An ethical ML system for tracking media representation using self-identification-only data. Built on the principle that identity classification in ML should never be derived from appearance alone — it should come from how people describe themselves.
First On Screen
Additional projects coming in Phase 2.
